After the very well received Cinematic Strings (and its successor CS2), there was a cloud of silence around the company of the same name led by Australian composer Alex Wallbank. But now he’s back with the Cinematic Studio Series, a line of orchestral sample libraries that represent all sections of the orchestra. This new venture begins with Cinematic Studio Strings, which we will see here.
This is also the first in a complete series of “Model Reviews” here at OrchestralTemplates.com, which will show examples of specific libraries that I think can find a place in your model. What makes these comments a little different from those found elsewhere is that I will only show you products that I personally use in my daily work and that I absolutely recommend. These analyzes will also highlight the specific use in models, with regard to versatility, adaptation to workflows, and with particular emphasis on the best way to integrate these products into a larger whole (think mix, interoperability, learning curve … ).
CSS offers five standard sections (Violins I, Violins II, Viola, Celli, and Basses). The nomenclature is a little out of the standard (first violin … cellos …), so some name conformity may be required depending on your nomenclature standards. Added to that is a complete set and a Lite set. The individual sections and the complete set have identical joints and characteristics.

When it comes to recordings, there is always an element of personal taste when it comes to the aesthetics of the recording, so if you are looking mainly for ‘brightness’ or ‘light’, you may be attracted by the high frequencies in Cinematic Strings. as opposed to Cinematic Studio Strings. On the other hand, if you find that Cinematic Strings has a lot of reverberation, nervousness, or irregularity, you will definitely want to hear Cinematic Studio Strings. Note that Cinematic Studio Strings uses a slightly smaller set than Cinematic Strings.
