Magical 8 Bit Plug Windows/Mac, VST/AU, Free 3. September 2017 A very good and simple chiptune VST by the Band YMCK. Magical 8Bit Chiptune VST. Main Features: 5 waveforms - square, 2x pulse, pseudo-triangle, low-res.
Cakewalk + Magic 8-Bit Plugin Alright, so I have Cakewalk Music Creator 3, and I have two questions. I installed YMCK's Magic 8-bit plugin, it recognized it along with my other VST's but I don't know how to open/use it. I have a fairly decent selection of instruments, except bass (mainly drum sounds), and they all kinda suck. 8bit synth is an emulation of the Famicom / NES psg sounds. 8bitsynth ( 2.15 MB ). I wanted to add vibrato to some notes in an remix I was making using the magical 8-bit plugin in FL Studio, but I couldn't find any way to do it. I tried to add a vibrato effect to the plugin VST from the effects dropdown on the side panel on the left of FL, but for some reason, doing so had no effect on the sound. Has anyone else here ever used the Magic 8-bit plugin that lets you make 8-bit music on Garage band as well as other various music making programs? Because I keep having this REALLY annoying problem: If i so much as click on one of the 8-bit instruments, an explosion of sound almost completely tears the speaker phones out, as well as my eardrums.
INTRO
Magical 8bit Plug is the perfect NES style chiptune plugin. It is awesome at authentically recreating the sound of the NES sound chip.
But to get it going in Ableton on Mac OSX proved a bit tricky. So here I will detail all the pitfalls I encountered and how to get it up and running.
ESSENTIALS
You must have a 64bit version of Ableton (Live 10 works), 32bit will not work.
The Universal Binary version of Magical 8-Bit plugin for Mac
SET UP
Once you have downloaded the plugin, unzip it and find the magical8bitPlug.component file.
Copy and paste this into your Components directory where you keep your plugins. (My directory is located SSD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components)
Open Ableton and goto Preferences
Under the File/Folder tab make sure Use Audio Units is on
Rescan your plugins
Everything should be setup now so close the Preferences window
You should now see an Audio Units folder along with your VST folder in the Plug-ins pane in the top left of the main Ableton interface
Expand Audio Units and you should see YMCK, expand this and you should see magical8BitPlug
Drag this in or double click and you are good to go
TROUBLESHOOTING
If the plugin still doesn’t appear you can try this.
Download the PPC version of the plugin here
Follow the steps in Set Up
At Step 8 you should see magical8bitPlug now
Now replace the PPC component file with the original Universal Binary version component file
Rescan your plugins in Preferences
Now try dragging the plugin onto a track
VIBRATO NOT WORKING?
The plugin window shows vibrato settings but you will quickly learn that tweaking these will do nothing!
However don’t fret, all you need to do is apply modulation using your mod wheel (or draw it in the modulation envelope) and the vibrato will magically work.
The P/Nes 8-Bit Monster is a synthesizer, or a Nintendorgan, inspired by the 2A03 chip used in the Nes sound architecture. It can produce authentic 8-bit sounds like the original Nes and other retro gaming systems or arcades, but it can also do much more with its expanded sound design. This is not just a basic simulation, this is a full blown synthesizer, my dream circuit-bent Nes.
The P/Nes is rooted in pitch tracking. Pretty much every effects and modifiers can be controlled by the pitch/note being played to create unique sounds and phrases.
The P/Nes also offers a great amount of control over every aspect of the sound shaping and modulation, all while keeping things simple and accessible. Every settings are visible within the same window, there are no hidden sub-menus.
Great for making old school arcade sounds, chiptune, or any other style of music you damn young hippies are playing these days.
Available for PC systems only.
