Calibrate your headphones directly from your favorite DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) by turning to this comprehensive VST plugin pack

REFERENCE is an excellent, well-designed plug-in that offers unique and useful visual insights into your mix and references. James F Reynolds REFERENCE is an amazing plugin that helps me make accurate mix decisions and cuts out the guess work. Open your DAW and ensure that it is scanning this folder for plugins; Open a session you are going to work with and locate your master bus. In some DAW’s it’s named “Stereo Out” by default. Locate the very last insert slot for plugins on this master bus and open the Reference plugin in this very last slot.

Sonarworks Reference 3 Headphones Calibration is a collection of plugins that can be deployed directly to your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of choice in order to calibrate your favorite headphones.

When producing music, it is very important that your audio output system is calibrated. Otherwise, you might notice that the piece you just produced sounds different on each audio system, which is not an ideal situation.

This plugin makes sure that your headphones are brought to a 'standard' level so that wherever you might listen to your projects, they will sound the same, no distortion, no added bass, no low volume.

Plug your headphones in, select the model and take it for a spin. Sonarworks SR technology optimises headphones to be more neutral. By correcting the frequency response of your headphones, we can improve the quality of the sound and efficiency of your workflow. By now I'm sure you all know that I'm a big fan of Sonarworks Reference 3 Speaker Calibration software. I use it on every mix, however I do have one problem with it. The problem that catches me out time and again is forgetting to 'Make Inactive' the Reference 3 plug-in before bouncing a mix down.

Since it is not a standalone application, you need to have a DAW that you can integrate Sonarworks Reference 3 Headphones Calibration into. After doing so, loading the plugin depends on the workstation that serves as a host app.

The interface lets you perform automatic calibration based on the headphones that you own, which you can select from a combo menu in the upper part of the window. Reference curves can be set, and you can choose between a dry or wet sound, depending on your needs. The 'Simulate' button enables you to test the settings that you just configured.

It is possible to enable an 'Avoid Clipping' option, adjust the master volume level and customize advanced settings as well.
